The way I looked at it - The City at its limits.

As I read about 'The City at its limits' , It spoke about the pros and cons of the city , Lima in its raw form . It had a total ripped off view of the city . There were elements that portrayed the day to day rigidities and risks in the  social environment , the obscurities the city faced , the political influence in the area etc.
The city and its events seemed to be  linked to each other . I could picture the whole city functioning before of my eyes.
There is a particular part in the book that appealed to me -

"She disrobed abruptly and wandered half-naked in the crowd,
in the fine but relentless cold winter drizzle, drawing glances and vehemently
repelling them, pulling the crowd toward her and then brusquely
warding it off, as the space around her seemed to fill with a force both
magnetic and impenetrable that, transmuted onto the morning’s front
page, even I could feel."

I felt that the the manner in which the woman sweeped the street set the crowd around her in motion . I picturised it as the woman sweeping the street and the people making way for her to clear up the place . And as she winds up with that place , the people warded off onto the cleaned-up place and made way for the woman to sweep the surrounding areas . So the movement of the crowd seems to be controlled by the direction the woman chose to sweep . Thus , she tends to form a repulsive force in motion that influences the behaviour of the crowd around her .

This set me to think that there are certain elements in every city that work hand in hand to add to its character . Taking the example of Shivajinagar , the mutual understanding of all the multi-cultured people living together in the area highlights the essence of the space. Had it not been for their mutual understanding , the space would not have caught so much of attention that it has caught today .
