1. Perception of “The City”
The Mythic City- Gyan Prakash (Myth- Modernity)
The article makes us think and understand about the different
perspectives a city could be looked at. It tells us about the various outlooks
of Mumbai (Bombay) city. The major understanding comes when we answer the
question, who creates the image of the city?
Gyan Prakash has acknowledges us with the
fact that Bombay was not initially planned to turn into a city but the way it was advertised leads the space to
be a major metropolitan city in India. Bombay was advertised or promoted in
certain way, idea of urban, craving an urban experience (special urban places
of that time).
Media played a significant role in developing Bombay. The
riots, when needs of the people are not fulfilled; media crafted and layered
the news on purpose. May be? Cinema in Bombay also has its two halves rural
which is simplicity (Gandhian Value) & Urban Exciting but also corruption.
The article has been fictionalized with facts about Bombay
at certain periods of time and also the various experiences that the writer
experienced in that space. It also gives us the idea or a thought about Genetic
city- Bombay’s distinct identity, Cultural realm, its infrastructure etc.
The City at its Limits-
The article makes us aware of the development that takes
place in city over the time period, some due to some particular incidents that
took place in that space etc. Lima also faces the violation of law, moral
principle of taboo.
Both the articles, though varying in their content, describes
the city through its major characteristics and their highlighting feature.
2. For the Communities from Informal Cities-
My apprehension to the term informal cities is that, there
are varieties of aspects which associate the informality of a city from
different angles like the spaces, disciplines, culture & heritage, people &
communities. Informal cities means the unofficial style, the unparalleled layout of the space, things not
planned intentionally but are still working in a successful manner within a
space.
In shivaji nagar OPH (old
poor House Road) is one of the examples of informal cities it seems as if the
area is isolated in a way from rest of the shivaji nagar.
In shivaji nagar we should
try connecting the isolated communities and neighborhood and create networks
through our walk considering the aspect of informal cities.

3. Exploring Walks-
Every time I visited shivaji nagar I had a whole new
experience but with same friendly ambience. I always did go with different
intensions to shvaji nagar for our visits on field. Being a part of the running
project surely did benefit me, as now I have a deeper understanding of shivaji
nagar.
In our earlier Project we had faced the difficulties of conversing
with people around. I was not aware of our conversation starter and also just
took the project that I had to it for my knowledge and not thinking for the
people or about the people.
Overcoming with the previous problem now the issues that I
have is finding spaces in shivaji nagar which has its history related to food
clubbed with architectural features for our food walk.
The medium through which I am articulating my research is
through pictures, write up conversations of people and few recordings.
